Decorating your caravan and turning it into a real-life Santa’s grotto is a worthwhile idea when on a winter caravan holiday. Not only will it help to spread festive cheer but adding noticeable outside decorations will also help to make your caravan more easily recognisable as parks get busier and the nights get darker.

Here are some great caravan Christmas decorations to take on any last-minute caravan holiday which will transform your home away from home into a Winter Wonderland! Now all you need is a beautiful dusting of snow…

Clear Rope Lights

Caravan Christmas lights are both quaint and nostalgic, instantly transforming your caravan into a beautiful festive haven. Available to buy from most shops, modern rope lights are virtually impossible to knot, providing a practical solution to the hours spent untangling fairy lights every year! Additionally, solar-powered rope lights make both a safe and attractive option that is definitely worth looking into further.

Whilst they are also available in different colours, clear rope lights are perfect for adding some classic Christmas sparkle, as well as being versatile enough to use for other occasions throughout the year. They can also be easily shaped to line your caravan or awning perfectly, making rope lights an essential decoration for illuminating your caravan.

Wreath

You don’t have to have a traditional wooden door to provide a perfect location for a beautiful wreath; a caravan door will do just fine! Choose a garland that’s suitable for outdoor use and can withstand wind and rain, free from ribbons or delicate materials that are likely to get soaked or easily damaged.

If you really want to illuminate your entrance, you could opt for a wreath that uses LEDs or is battery operated. This will light up your caravan door throughout your break and provide your home away from home with some festive cheer this year.

Christmas Tree

With so many different types and styles of trees on the market, it can be hard to choose the ideal Christmas tree for your home, let alone deciding on which one to use when you’re in the caravan! Whether you are a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas trees or you would prefer to go a little more quirky with a brightly-coloured, sparkling artificial or fibre-optic tree, you are bound to be spoiled for choice when picking the perfect tree to add to your Christmas caravan décor.

However, we would recommend avoiding spending too much money and opting for either an LED tree or a pop-up tree as both require minimal assembly. Real trees are great, but is that rich pine scent really worth all the mess of pine needles tracked throughout the caravan? If you’re struggling for space, go for a small, compact tree or alternatively, choose one that is suitable for outdoor use. Outdoor trees can look lovely but make sure that the one you choose is sturdy enough to withstand the dropping temperatures and potentially adverse weather. If you will be in a touring caravan this Christmas, why not position your tree in your awning where it will keep dry? This way, you can save space and still decorate your tree as you please.

Outdoor Decorations

Penguins, reindeer, Santa – there are so many ideal figurines to choose from when deciding what to place outside your caravan to create a festive scene to bring joy to your family and onsite neighbours. It’s advisable to choose a static caravan outside decoration which lights up rather than anything inflatable in case bad weather shortens its time in front of your caravan.

If figurines aren’t your thing, you could buy a simple Merry Christmas sign or a plaque with some other festive slogan on it. Just drape your sign in either clear or multi-coloured lights and place it next to your caravan for the ultimate caravan Christmas decoration.

Christmas Caravan Ornaments

Whether it’s caravan ornaments for your tree or festive decorations to hang around the interior of your home away from home, simple decorations are ideal for spreading the festive cheer if space is tight. After all, Christmas decorations for caravans needn’t be grandiose; sometimes, the subtlest ornaments can perfectly encapsulate the spirit of what Christmas is all about.

If you enjoy crafting and fancy getting a little creative with your festive caravan décor this year, why not try out making your own decorations? Caravan ornaments don’t have to be difficult to make, and unleashing your imagination is also a great way to get into the Christmas spirit yourself. Paper chains are a classic option, or alternatively, you could try making your own ornaments out of felt or painting your favourite designs on plain baubles.

Festive Homeware

Decorations aren’t really your thing? Don’t worry, as there are still plenty of great ways that you can celebrate Christmas in a more understated fashion. Leave the tree, the lights, and the decorations at home and instead, opt for some stylish festive homeware to keep the magic alive this season.

There are plenty of options out there to choose from, so do a little research and pick up some lovely new additions to your Christmas caravan collection. From personalised Christmas mugs to a festive dinner set, table centrepiece, or even a seasonal plant like a poinsettia, you will soon be spoiled for choice! If you really want to push the boat out, why not invest in a classic Christmas jumper to cuddle up in when the big day arrives?

No matter whether you want to go all out with your caravan Christmas decorations this year or are planning to add just a few subtle, carefully chosen festive additions to your caravan, these ideas should help to give you some initial inspiration. Make the most of the festive break this year with Allens Caravans.
