Static Caravan Winter Garden Ideas | Allens Caravans
Allens Caravans

When you buy a static caravan at an Allens Caravans park, be it residential or holiday, you will receive a garden plot alongside your home. You can do with this plot what you see fit.

Some people add decking or paving to create a patio area perfect for the summer months and long, warm evenings, whilst others install small sheds to keep their bicycles and outdoor tools safe.

The space you get with your caravan will vary from park to park, but government legislature states that caravans must be at least 6m apart from each other. If you’re buying a pre-owned static caravan, there’s a chance there could be a garage installed.

Although these are practical static caravan garden ideas, they can leave your garden looking a bit drab come winter. Winter is a tricky time to grow plants because the freezing temperatures and cold weather can kill the roots and leave flowerbeds and planters looking barren. This isn’t always the nicest thing to look out on from your luxury park home, but the good news is, it doesn’t have to be this way.

If you’re looking for some winter caravan garden ideas, keep reading to find some inspiration:

Attract Wildlife

It might be difficult to grow plant life during winter, but that doesn’t mean your garden has to be totally devoid of all living things. There is lots of wildlife that comes out in winter, but the weather can make it hard to find food, especially for birds. Help out the robins, blue tits, and blackbirds by providing fresh, unfrozen water. Place seed in bird feeders, and put out fat balls to supplement the seed. This should attract lots of beautiful birds to your garden this winter. A garden full of wildlife looks beautiful all year round, even if there isn’t much else going on.

Plant Hard Winter Plants

For those who still want to adorn their garden with rich plant life during winter, there are some options. You can swap out plants in your flowerbeds or planters for hardy winter bulbs in autumn, giving them plenty of time to flower before winter sets in. Doing so will mean you can retain your beautiful plot border all year round.

Some popular winter flowers to plant that will survive the cold include:

  • Winter honeysuckles
  • Pansies
  • Snowdrops
  • Cyclamens
  • Winter heathers
  • Winter jasmines
  • Witch hazel

Refreshing your planters with these plants will keep your area looking vibrant and full of life all year round, perfect for highlighting the beauty of your park home and the plot it’s on.

Install Lighting

Winter brings with it dark, long nights, meaning from 4pm it’s pitch black outside. The persistent darkness can make a space look empty and uninviting, especially if there are no plants or you’re working with a relatively plain decking or patio area. To help bring some light to your garden this winter, think about installing fairy lights or in-ground lights. This will not only illuminate your plot, but it will bring some much needed light and ambience to your area.

If your static caravan has a side deck, think about wrapping lights around the railing. If you have a patio, the addition of some lights can turn it into a usable area, even when it’s dark, allowing you to enjoy a cosy hot drink on your deck – provided it’s not raining!
